In Super Transport we include two super-hero rescue vehicles – an RNLI lifeboat and an Air Ambulance.
On the audio guide that accompanies the tactile picture of the RNLI boat we include a May Day call which the RNLI use for training purposes. This high-octane reconstruction provides an insight into the service and rescue process. You can listen to it here:
Visit the RNLI website to watch videos of real-life rescues including surfers in difficulty, injured fishermen and yachtsmen caught in a storm.
In the Air Ambulance audio we talk about the Thames Valley Air Ambulance Service. On their website you can meet the crew, learn about the helicopter fleet, plus use the interactive map to find out about the locations of the call-outs they have responded to.
There are Air Ambulance stations up and down the country. Some have open days and many have their own website where you can find out more about the service, fleet and the rescues they carry out. Go to the national Air Ambulance website to find out more.
