Now it’s the turn of the Paralympians!
September 7, 2016

Following the enormous excitement of the Olympic Games and the amazing performances of the Team GB athletes, we now have the Paralympic Games to look forward to.  They will take over the Olympic venues in Rio de Janeiro from today until 18 September and we are again expecting our athletes to do as well as they did in London 2012 – no pressure!

As Channel 4 puts it, the Superhumans are back!  Channel 4 will be covering the entire Games, so you won’t miss a moment. They also have information on their website about getting involved  in parasport.

But we are very sad that Living Painting friend and supporter Verity Smith won’t be going to Rio. Although she is still competing at the very highest levels in her sport of dressage, she decided not to put herself forward for selection.  She made this difficult decision because of implementation of a rule that meant she would have had to wear a blindfold. The world of classification in disability sport can be confusing and in this recording Verity explains what this rather complex situation means to her personally.

We will keep you updated on Verity’s campaign to Beat the Blindfold.
