What a week, no internet in the office but still we are survivors and found ways to get round it, nothing stops us even when our land line gave up on us! If you have sent me an email this week and expected a reply but have heard nothing from me, I do apologise we hope to be back on line early next week.
I started this week by visiting the Newbury Corn Exchange Touch to See Book Club, really active group the place was buzzing. Mandi Bainbridge a contemporary textile artist and member of the Open Studios scheme spoke about some of her wonderful tactile pieces of art. The colours were so vibrant and various gems, types of fabrics, buttons, shells and stones were incorporated into the pieces of art.
She dyes and prints her own fabrics using a variety of techniques. She finds her inspiration in nature, particularly coastal areas. Mandi’s stories vigorated members and bought up memories of quilt making and sewing when they were younger.
This group meets on the second Monday of every month at the Corn Exchange in Newbury if you want to know more about this group or you are thinking of setting up your own group just pick up the phone and call me on 01635 299771.
