About Our Work: Our Touch and Sound Packs

A mother and her daughter discovering a Living painting

"...it's fantastic that we can have these books through the post and have up-to-date interesting ones sent to us. It's terrific."

"Living Paintings has made a huge difference to my daughter's life and I'd like to ask you to make a difference to other children's as well."

The packs that have been developed for adults are known as Albums and there are currently 30 in circulation. Albums bring together collections designed to provide access for visually impaired people to a wide and varied selection of the world’s great works of art.

Each Album is different however, they all contain raised images, audio descriptions and colour reproductions of at least 10 works of art. The collections are designed to group together topics in an interesting and exciting way and the following are some examples:

  • Works of art from specific galleries/collections eg The National Gallery, The Royal Collection, The Courtauld Collection etc.
  • Living Paintings Pack
  • City Albums which contain an audio tour and raised images of the relevant city, explaining it’s history, describing important locations and exploring in detail some of it’s greatest treasures. Cities covered include Edinburgh, Glasgow and Exeter.
  • Special Interest Albums deal with topics such as "The History of English Garden Design", "British Architecture" and "British Birds and their Habitat".
