We’re very excited about the latest book in our Forest School series, which will be published shortly. Called Wild About Bushcraft, it will be packed full of ideas for activities in the great outdoors.
You might be interested to know that all of our Touch to See books are tested by library members before they go into final production. This is to make sure that the images are easy to read with your fingers and that they work with the audio description. These pictures show two of our young volunteers, Summer and Freddie, carrying out this invaluable job for us with the new Bushcraft book. Both of them really enjoyed the book and found plenty of inspiration, especially in the section on knot tying. Summer told us that it was really good to have something practical to do, rather than just listening, and that the instructions were useful and helpful.
Summer’s mother adds: “This is absolutely a fantastic book to add to the Living Paintings Library. Summer really enjoyed the descriptions of learning how to cook on a camp fire safely. Her brothers loved it too and it was really lovely to observe them sharing books together. It’s very important for all children to access and participate in life skills and Living Paintings enables this to happen. Thank you.”
Freddie especially liked the image of the camp fire and is also happy to recommend the book. He said “give it a go, it’s fun and will explain all about bushcraft and the outdoors, I enjoyed it!”
Look out for the announcement when we launch this exciting new book and we really hope it inspires you to try out some bushcraft skills.
