First stop attending the London Visual Impairment Forum (LVIF) meeting.

Although most LVIF members have all heard about Living Paintings Trust I on the other hand was new to this Forum and their charities. My first meeting in London at the RNIB offices was so informative and welcoming.

Agenda items included RP Retinitis pigmentosa Fighting Blindness, Braille Chess Association, feedback on CQC consultation on changes in the way they regulate, inspect and rate health and care services and Infosound LONDON.

The highlight was a seasonal musical interlude from Matt Wadsworth, an inspirational Lute player, a mesmerising instrument. Its name and ‘its distinctive shape’ apparently derives from the Arabic ‘ud, an instrument which is very much at the heart of Arabic musical life to this day and came to Europe in the Middle Ages. Fascinating and very enjoyable!!
