Verity Smith horse riding in arena

Hi Em here,

I was fortunate enough to talk to the very talented and inspiring Paralympian, Verity Smith.

Verity’s love of horses blossomed at the age of three and she started competing when she was five. She started to lose her sight when she was eight but it didn’t stop her love of riding.  She believed all that she needed to guide her through her passion was her horse’s eyes.  As she said in an interview for CNN’s Human to Hero, “When I ride my feet don’t touch the ground. It’s like flying.”

Watch Verity talk about her love of riding:

Listen to Verity talking to me about dressage and the obstacles she had to overcome to get to where she is today:

Verity is now training and competing to win a place in Team GB for the Paralympics in Rio 2016.

Good luck, Verity!
