Our Free Library

About our Library

The Living Paintings library service is the way in which all our specialist Touch to See books are made available to blind and partially sighted people throughout Britain and Ireland.
Our library service is totally free to all members.

  • Any blind or partially sighted person – young or old – can join the library, as can their carers, teachers and families.
  • It is a principle of Living Paintings to lend to any person or organisation who will benefit.
  • The library service is delivered via the post and so anyone in Britain and Ireland can receive loans wherever they may be.
  • Loans are made not only to the home but also to schools and other organisations supporting visually impaired people

How The Library Works

Our purpose is to make sure that as many people as possible benefit from our library service and our service is completely free.

All the resources for blind and visually impaired children and adults are sent out from our library via the post using the freepost “Articles for the Blind” scheme.

We always include a return address label so that the books can be returned to us at no cost and and we are always trying to do our bit for the environment so all of our packaging is either reusable or recyclable.

Loans can be made to anywhere in Britain and Ireland.

Our packs are on loan for a standard three month period and more than one book can be borrowed at a time. This period may be easily extended by phone or library members may wish to exchange books more regularly than this.
