Provision of the Library Service
We need to raise funds to continue to provide the library service to an increasing number of people. In particular we look to raise funds to cover the costs of providing the service for specific geographical areas. We benefit people in all counties in Britain. We also benefit people in Ireland. So we will have a project assisting people who are living close to where you are located or have a particular interest.
For Adults:
Living Paintings Albums
Albums bring pictures to life for blind and partially sighted adults. For more information about our Albums, and the extensive range of images included in each one please click here. In order to meet demand for new, stimulating materials Living Paintings aim is to produce at least two 2 new Albums each year. At present we have outlines for over 50 Albums all suggested by our beneficiaries. Taking a year to research, design, write, record, manufacture etc, there is an enormous amount of work involved in creating the multiple copies of these specialist packs. The cost of origination and production of 200 copies of each Album is £25,000.
For Children
Living Picture Books
Living Picture Books bring to life the magical world that is created when words and pictures work together in illustrated children’s books. In order to meet the demand of the increasing number of our young library members who, thanks to our packs, are developing such voracious reading appetites Living Paintings aims to produce 10 new titles each year.
The cost of origination and production of 20 copies of each title is £2,500.
Special Interest and Educational Packs
These packs present collections of visual images around topics of interest and relevance to children and youngsters. Some are designed to tie in with National Curriculum studies and all complement children’s learning, both at home and in the classroom. They include Teacher Resource Packs, Topical Packs and Art History Packs. In order to meet demand for new titles Living Paintings aims is to produce 5 new Special Interest and Educational Packs each year. The cost of origination and production of 100 copies of each Special Interest Pack is £10,000.
Office Equipment
As we grow we need additional equipment, eg work stations for volunteers and staff, enhanced communication systems, printers for producing essential information included with the touch and sound packs.
Office Supplies
We regularly need office supplies including items such as stationery and printing facilities. We are always extremely grateful to businesses who provide them to us free or at a substantial discount!

As we embark on ShareVision, our 5 year strategy to double the number of people benefiting from Living Paintings’ services, we need to raise funds for specific elements of this stepped programme of development.
