We’ve talked to lots of scientists and engineers while we’ve been creating the Science Alive series. They do an amazingly varied range of jobs that impact on all our lives, athough we often have no idea about the work they do.
We thought you might like to hear from some of them about what inspired them to take up a career in science and engineering and what they actually do in their day-to-day jobs. For example, Dr Mark Dallas and his team of neuroscientists at Reading University are looking at the growing problem of memory loss as people get older, and working to come up with ideas for medicines that can help. While Mandhy Senewiratne works with engineers, builders and local communities to make sure that construction projects are carried out in ways that are best for the environment.
