New science titles for young people!
February 10, 2017

The deep ocean

Thanks to all the feedback we’ve received from you about creating Touch to See books covering science topics, we have been working hard on a brand new range for young people. Welcome to Science Alive! We are delighted to announce that the first of these titles, The Body Owner’s Guidebook, is in the library. Written for children aged around 7 to 11, it includes detailed tactile images and fact-packed audio descriptions about your muscles, skeleton, heart, lungs, digestive system, senses and reproductive organs. This Touch to See science book is a really good read at home as well as a useful support for classwork.

Rainforest Montage

We will then be adding to the range with two books for young people aged 11 to 14. The Wonder of Life will take you from the cellular building blocks of plant and animal life on Earth right through to an entire ecosystem – the Amazon rainforest. And hot on its heels will come The World Below, an exploration of the hidden world beneath our feet and at the bottom of the ocean.

Later this year we will expand the Science Alive! range even further with a special title for younger readers all about Fantastic Light, featuring the wonderful picture book The Lighthouse Keeper’s Rescue. Other titles to come include Science Experiments, with ideas for simple, fun experiments you can try at home and, for older children, an exploration of the magical world of chemistry in Material World.

And all these titles are supported by our fantastic Science Alive! Discovery Hub with lots of ideas for things to do and places to go to find out more about all things scientific. Let us know what you think – we’d really love your feedback.
