A chance meeting and an enlightening conversation has led to some wonderfully creative community fundraising!
A big thank you to The Market Square Quilters of Newbury for raising £500 through the raffle of one of their stunning quilts (pictured below).
They chose to donate the money to our charity because one of the quilters was touched by a conversation she’d had with a Living Paintings library member, while on holiday in Devon. The library member explained that after feeling one of our raised images they now knew, ‘what clouds look like’.
The Market Square Quilters love making the quilts and explained, ‘They are made with love for people we love.’ As well as their kind support of Living Paintings, they also send 100 quilts a year to the premature baby unit at North Hampshire Hospital, where the quilts go on top of the incubators to protect the babies from the bright lights of the hospital ward and help give a sense of night and day.
