Our latest Living Picture Book for blind and partially sighted children is Lynn Roberts-Maloney and David Robert’s far-out reworking of the classic fairy tale, Rapunzel!

Rapunzel: A Groovy 1970s Fairy Tale teams lively illustration with a comical storyline, retelling the much-loved fairy tale in a ’70s setting. We’ve taken three scenes from the book and created tactile versions of them, each one hand-painted by our fantastic volunteers and described by BBC Radio 1 DJ Alice Levine. All our of tactile picture books for blind children include braille on every page too, to encourage independent reading.

Here’s a quick synopsis of the story and a link that will take you straight to our online library to order the book for FREE now.

Under Aunt Edna’s beady eye (and with the help of her horrid pet crow), poor Rapunzel is forced to stay in her room all day, unable to explore the exciting city down below. Her only solace is her groovy record collection featuring the likes of David Bowie and Blondie.

An image taken from our latest tactile book for blind children - Rapunzel. It shows Aunt Edna with a pair of scissors about to cut Rapunzel's hair.

Roger, lead singer of Roger and the Rascals makes it his mission to introduce himself to the girl with the long hair but when they finally meet, Aunt Edna turns both their worlds upside down.

Will the friends be able to reunite? Will Aunt Edna get her comeuppance? Borrow our tactile adaptation of this fantastic book from our free library and find out!
