Hi, Danni here.
It was very hot when the Reading team travelled to Birmingham and I felt quite optimistic about my beloved team. The Manager, Steve Clark, had signed some new players who I hope will bring fresh impetus to the team so we can get to at least mid-table or above by the end of the season.
However, forgive me, I have to use the phrase “we was robbed!” Reading dominated for most of the game. They hit the bar three times then everyone thought the ball had gone over the line but the referee said “no”. Birmingham were 2 nil up when Nick Blackman scored a great goal for Reading – we were back in the match!
Then in stoppage time Reading were given a penalty and I really thought this would bring us level at 2 all so at least we would come home with a point. But it was not to be, due to a very lacklustre attempt by our new, no-expense-spared striker. So we lost 2-1 but I was very encouraged by their performance in general.
Don’t forget to borrow our fantastic Touch to See book on Football: all the glory of the game with masses of facts, stats and star players.
