Equipment and information day at Tadley

Our Touch to See display at the Information Day

Hi Maria here,

In March I attended the Equipment and Information Day in Tadley, Hampshire, run by Open Sight.  I met some new faces, which was very useful. There is a huge amount of technical equipment available to people who are blind and partially sighted which opens up some amazing opportunities.

I bumped into two of our Corn Exchange, Newbury Touch to See Book Club members, Alison and Jeanne. I was chatting to them about some of their activities during recent sessions and they mentioned that their membership is increasing.  In fact, demand is so high that they are thinking about having a waiting list!  This is wonderful news, as the group is growing stronger and increasing in popularity. However, it’s not so great if they have to turn people away!  So, it seems there is a need to set up another group close to Newbury, possibly in Thatcham.

My first question would be, do you live in that area? If so, are you thinking about taking on a rewarding voluntary role? You can guess where I am going with this, I am sure. I would love to speak to you – please get in touch on 01635 299 771.

Bye for now.
