Engaging blind and visually impaired teenagers with literature and popular culture is very close to our hearts, as we’ve published a ground-breaking range of Touch to See books for them. These audio books clue them in to popular culture and allow them to explore tactile pictures of iconic imagery.

Each book in the teenage range has its own online Discovery Hub featuring interviews with our famous readers, ideas for places to visit and things to do, blogs, music playlists, recipes and much more.

Our teenage books include an exploration of the Universe in Ka-Boom, our essential guide to all things interstellar, read by real-life space scientists including Maggie Aderin-Pocock and Chris Lintott (from the Sky at Night). It’s all there – from the Big Bang to the birth of stars; galaxies to Galileo; constellations to comets.

Our Football book gives them the complete low-down on the beautiful game, with pitch details, ball skills, iconic stadiums and players, refs and rules, trophies, tips and much more.

Music Now! Teenage Kicks whisks them off on a musical express as it thunders through the decades from the birth of rock ‘n’ roll in the 1950s and on through music movements such as punk, glam rock, disco, grunge and Britpop.  The book has tactile images of music legends including Bowie, Bob Marley (see above), Bob Dylan and Elvis.  Celebrity DJs Lauren Laverne, Jo Whiley and Steve Lamacq  help spin the tunes. Alongside this is Fashion Now!, an inspiring guide covering trends, designers, fashion icons and practical style advice.

Our Spotlight on the Stage provides masses of fascinating background on theatre from its beginnings in Greece to award-winning plays such as War Horse and Frankenstein to musical spectacles like Wicked.  The audio is read by great British actors including Derek Jacobi, Simon Callow, Frances de la Tour, Maxine Peake and Michael Sheen.

That’s not all……our teenage range also includes Healthy Eating and Fitness, Architecture and popular culture.  Coming soon are books on Film and Contemporary Art. Check out our online library and order a Teen Read .
