The benefits of meeting people face to face
November 26, 2014

Greetings! Hope you are all managing to stay warm, what a temperature drop this week! I have been out and about the last few days, travelling to Leicestershire, Bristol, Somerset and Devon, meeting with various team members from Action for the Blind, Age UK Leicester, Somerset Sight and VISTA who are the leading local charity working with children and adults with sight loss in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. I am pleased to say another two Book Clubs and a number of adults were registered onto our Library database.

It is along way to travel to all these places but I can honestly say it is so worth while meeting everyone face to face. Not only because everyone can feel and touch our packs personally but also because a meeting face to face opens up so many more opportunities and helps me put a face to the name. I am touched by how many organisations are in awe of the work we do here at Living Paintings and how everyone is amazed that our library service is completely free.

On Saturday the 22nd we ran a workshop at the Blind Children UK Family Open Day in Bristol, the children and parents had an opportunity to make their own living painting and take it home to show and tell to friends and family. Our raised images were a huge success, many children were finding it hard to pick their favourite images as there were so many to choose from they were very determined to take home as many as they could, it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and imagination, I have to admit I was exhausted when I got home that evening but so overwhelmed by their creativity, some real talent showing through.
