Craig Roberts talks to Living Paintings about the making of Just Jim
June 10, 2015

Young Welsh actor, Craig Roberts, kindly lent his voice to the Rebel, Rebel audio guide for our Touch to See book on milestones in movie history for blind teenagers.

Craig chatted about Just Jim, whilst in studio lending his voice to our Rebel chapter in Lights! Camera Action!:

Craig began his career acting in television shows for young people, like The Story of Tracy Beaker and Young Dracula.  His breakthrough role came in 2010 when he played the lead in (contemporary cult classic) Submarine directed by Richard Ayoade.  He’s since starred in horror television series Being Human and American blockbuster film comedies Bad Neighbours and 22 Jump Street.

Last year Craig ventured behind the lens with his directorial debut Just Jim, which he also wrote and starred in. The movie received its world premiere at SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. It’s the story of a loner – Jim, 16, has no friends and is a bit weird. His childhood friend has left him for the cooler crowd and Jim is pushed to the edge when his dog dies. Jim’s life changes dramatically when Dean, an American on the run with movie star good looks, moves next door. Art kinda imitates life in that the movie was filmed in Craig’s hometown of Maesycwmmer, Wales, and Hollywood star Emile Hirsch plays Dean.
