Get into Character
Why not have a dress-up day. Ask everyone to pay £1 to come to school dressed as their favourite character from a Touch to See book, or turn the challenge on the teachers to see what magical costumes they can come up with.

Get Reading
Tie this in with a Get into Character day, read all the books that feature the characters, or choose one book and get pupils to dress up as characters from it.

Get Sponsored
Choose something challenging, maybe walking 5 miles, swimming 100 lengths or even doing a three-legged walk with one person blindfolded – that one really tests your team skill and  helps sighted pupils understand the daily challenges faced by blind people.

Go Casual
Everyone loves this! Ask your teacher if your class can have a charity ‘own-clothes’ day and ask everyone to pay £1 to wear their own clothes.

Get Baking
There’s nothing better than a jolly good cake sale. Everyone can get involved and it can get competitive!

Get Flying
Have a paper plane competition. Ask if you can use the school hall, and charge a small entrance fee. You can have all sorts of different classes, like furthest distance flown, fly the plane through the hoop, or most unusual design.

Get Teddylicious
Have a teddy bears’ party, or picnic. Children can introduce their favourite teddy for a small donation – teachers too! We can send you a tactile picture of a famous teddy to help you along the way.

Get Selling
Bring-and-buy sales always go down a storm. Bring in your old toys and books to sell, and donate the profits to make more Touch to See books. For those talented artists out there – design a Christmas card, or other craft that is easy to make lots of, and sell them.

Get Competitive
How about a teachers versus students talent show or match – football, netball, rounders, tennis? Perhaps a battle of the bands or a University Challenge-style quiz would get everyone FUNdraising.

Watch out for Wildlife
Tying into our Touch to See book “All about British wildlife and our countryside”, see how many different sorts of birds or butterflies you can spot – set a time limit and a target and get people to sponsor you for each different species. We have fab tactile pictures that we can send to encourage you in your efforts.
