Crowds of children busied themselves making pom-pom sheep, tiger masks and eggbox caterpillars at a major running event last weekend.
Set in the picturesque setting of Wasing Park, Berkshire, Endure24 is an annual event that invites teams of runners and super-fit individuals to run around a woodland course for 24 hours. As the event’s charity partner for 2018, Living Paintings joined the festivities providing entertainment for hundreds of children including book readings with Julie Sykes – author of the Little Tiger picture book series and Unicorn Academy – a pocket money book sale and fun crafts for all ages.
We also ran a raffle with prizes including tickets to see two West End shows, a luxury hamper from Highgrove, plus signed goodies from author and illustrator David Melling. Winners were drawn at random and notified following the event on Monday 11th June.
The Living Paintings team was joined at the event by two additional special guests… Stick Man and Kipper! Both larger than life characters spent time saying hello to kids and having their photos taken with enthusiastic fans of every age! We also were lucky enough to have as a rather eye-catching backdrop, the Living Paintings lorry featuring library member Tayen and the Gruffalo! Thank you to the team at Ford for making this possible.
A huge thank you to everyone who turned up to hear more about our charity, took part in the numerous activities we had on offer, bought a raffle ticket and donated. Nearly 200 children spent time in ‘Crafty Corner’ colouring, sticking and making unique works of art to take home, donating a little to Living Paintings at the same time.
Perhaps we’ll see you again at Endure24 2019!
