Lucy’s Story
June 23, 2016

We’d like you to meet Lucy Edwards, Living Painting’s young and inspiring Digital Ambassador. Lucy lost her sight at the age of 17 and she talks honestly in this video about this life-changing event. As she puts it, she realised she had no light in her life in two ways – she was both blind and depressed. But Lucy has worked hard to overcome her depression and to find new ways to enjoy life. The tactile books she has borrowed from the Living Paintings free library service have played a big part in this, enabling her to see through her hands rather than her sight.

We are blown away by Lucy’s attitude and the confident way she tackles life. Check out her interview with DareDevil star Charlie Cox for proof of this! We’re delighted that we’ve made such a difference to Lucy’s life. We promise to keep working hard to provide a wide range of tactile books, audio material and book clubs for people battling with depression and isolation after losing their sight.

Listen to what Lucy has to say and then share her message with others. Please DONATE whatever you can to ensure we can carry on helping young people like Lucy.
