Elmer’s Walk by David McKee
We all know how busy life can be. Even little ones need time to stop and enjoy the things around them. Elmer’s Walk is McKee’s latest title that sees the Patchwork Elephant trying to encourage others to stop and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells around them. But everyone’s too busy. Luckily, Elmer’s friend Wilbur arrives and shares Elmer’s enjoyment in the stars.
This wonderful celebration of mindfulness is due for publication on 6th September and we’re making our ‘feely’ version available on the very same day so that every child can join in with Elmer’s latest adventure.
Our fundraising campaign to create this title is still ongoing! We want to be able to make a full set (that’s 30 copies) of Elmer’s Walk for our Touch to See library but we’re currently £855.86 short. Please consider giving to our #PoundsForPatches campaign… you can donate online via our special Just Giving page, over the phone or by cheque. Our phone number and address can be found at the bottom of the page.
A huge thank you to publishers Andersen Press for supporting Living Paintings throughout this campaign.

Journey by Aaron Becker
In a first for Living Paintings, we’re adapting a wordless children’s picture book. Journey by Aaron Becker is an award-winning title that follows the adventure of a girl as she escapes through her drawing and into a wondrous world like no other. Beautifully illustrated, it appealed to the publishing team here at Living Paintings because of that exact reason – its format means that without additional VI-accessible elements, Journey would be out of reach for blind and partially sighted children.
Available in the Living Paintings library from autumn 2018, our Touch to See version of Journey will send blind and partially sighted children off on their own imaginary journey aided by a descriptive audio guide, four ‘feely’ pictures and beautiful musical soundscapes.
