We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to our latest tactile, audio and braille book, Elmer’s Walk, which hit the library shelves on 6th September – the same day as it was released in book shops. To mark this special co-release with publishers Andersen Press, we sent out our VI-accessible version of the book to ten lucky library members to open on the day.
“Good morning, oh my goodness thank you so so much for sending Teddy a copy of Elmer’s Walk. It was sooo beautifully packaged. Teddy absolutely loved opening his package and we’ve read the book 4 times since opening it. I think we’re both enjoying it as much as each other, thanks sooo much once again, it’s absolutely beautiful.” – Teddy’s mum
“Thank you so much for a lovely, exciting surprise. Jack and his sister Emily loved the story! We draw a different picture on his eye patch each day and he requested Elmer today, so we took off his glasses so you can see it in the last photo!” – Jack’s mum
“She really enjoyed it and she loves being able to read it to her younger sister. Thank you for including her in this.” – Xenya’s mum
Below is a selection of photo and video sent in by mums, dads, grandmas and carers of their child enjoying unwrapping the book (from its very special packaging) and trying out the tactile images, braille and audio for the first time.
