Our pick of dino decs
February 10, 2016

If your child is crazy about the Cretaceous period and dotty about dinosaurs then you might like to add some colourful new decorations to give their bedroom a Jurassic World-vibe. Here’s our pick of some of the best accessories on a dino theme.

This cute, boldly patterned, single duvet cover and pillowcase are from John Lewis and cost £25.00. We particularly love the footprints that run across the cover, the reversible style and the playful ‘Grrrr’ in a speech bubble.

Who wants a boring, white light switch when they can have a scary, tactile one with a T Rex on it!

T Rex light switch

This fab version is from notonthehighstreet.com and costs £24.99. It makes the perfect finishing touch to a dino-themed bedroom and, as you have to turn the T Rex to operate the switch, it’s also lots of fun.

Dino toy box and desk

Keep a child’s bedroom tidy with this funky toy box and desk. It costs £83 from Dotty Hippo. Or you could make your own version by painting an existing toy box in bright colours and decorating it with dinosaur stickers.

Dino lamp from John Lewis

Imagine how comforting this little fella would be glowing on a bedside table.  Beautifully made from white polypropylene this classy lamp comes from John Lewis and costs £40.00.

The perfect accessory for this dino-themed bedroom is, of course, our Touch to See books for blind and partially sighted children.

Younger children (5-7) years will love Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs by Ian Whybrow and Adrian Reynolds. This bright, colourful book tells the story of a little boy called Harry who finds a dusty collection of dinosaurs in his Gran’s attic. He carries them with him everywhere until the day that he loses them. How will he prove to the lost property officer that they are really his….?

Older children (7-11 years) can borrow Dinosaur Time by Michael Foreman – a magical story about a young boy who is transported back in time and finds himself in a dinosaur’s nest!
